DR THOMAS J. GINDr Thomas Gin is an eye surgeon and medical retinal specialist. His expertise is in the management of retinal diseases including diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration and retinal vascular disorders. He is an experienced cataract surgeon and has extensive experience with intravitreal injections and retinal lasers.

Dr Gin graduated with honours in Medicine from the University of Melbourne in 2013 and ranked first in his clinical school final-year examinations. Following his residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, he undertook ophthalmology surgical training in Melbourne at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital. During this time, he was awarded the Filipic-Greer medal for excellence in ophthalmic pathology. Dr Gin subsequently undertook further fellowship training in the subspecialty field of retina.

As a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists Dr Gin practices in both the private and public sectors, where he treats a range of complex eye diseases. He has published several research articles on age-related macular degeneration in international peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals. He is actively involved in training the next generation of eye surgeons as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital and Austin Hospital.
